Wednesday Afternoon Gentlemen and Ladies Sailing - WAGLS
is an Australian sailing phenomena where yacht owners conduct a sort of
race by sailing out for 1 hour then turning back with the idea that all
the boats finish at the same time in the same place. Some yacht clubs
also do this on Saturdays - SAGLS.
The Port Douglas Yacht Club has been doing WAGLS for years now and
invite the public to join them for free. The meeting place is the PDYC
clubhouse where there is place that hopefuls can register their interest
at 4 pm on Wednesdays.
You do not always get a position and the race is not always run
depending on numbers and weather.
