Tinaroo Dam on the Barron River, is popular
with tourists as well as locals.
The dam, which was completed in
1959, supplies the bulk of the drinking and irrigation water supplies for
the Atherton Tablelands district.
Numerous camping spots and picnic
areas are available on the grassy shoreline which surrounds the
lake.
Fishing (for Barramundi
and Red Claw crayfish), sailing and bird watching are some of the
favourite pastimes enjoyed by visitors.
