Before
setting out to explore Chillagoe a visit to the Chillagoe
Heritage Museum is recommended, especially if you are at all
interested in the mining history of the area.
The museum’s excellent coverage of this subject, together
with historical photos of the smelter plant, both while under
construction, and in full production, as well as other mining
ventures, will further enhance your appreciation of the actual
sites when visited.
The museum also has much else of interest, including a glimpse
into the lives of the town’s pioneers.
The museum is located in Hill Street.
