Finch Bay is a picturesque and secluded sandy
beach popular with locals and visitors alike.
Located less than two kilometres from the Cooktown business area,
the beach can be accessed either by Walker
Street, the road which by-passes the Botanic Gardens, or
by two clearly defined and marked bush walking trails,
one which originates in the Botanic Gardens and the other from
partway along the road which leads to Grassy Hill lighthouse.
The view at the southern end of the beach is dominated by Mount
Cook while the northern view takes in Indian Head and Cape
Bedford.
