The Mount Hypipamee National Park, which includes the Mount Hypipamee Crater, a huge volcanic vent also referred to as The Crater, is located south-east of Herberton.

The Crater is 61 metres in diameter and 82 metres deep.

A 400 metre walking track leads in from the highway to a protruding viewing platform which gives an unhindered and scary view into the depths of the crater below.
