Lined for much of its length with luxury accommodation and internationally acclaimed resorts which have mostly been camouflaged from the visitor's view by palm trees and other tropical vegetation, Four Mile Beach is the main recreational beach in Port Douglas.

A short walk from the town centre, the wide sandy beach begins at a rocky headland and then continues to the south, seemingly as far as the eye can see.

Interestingly, Four Mile Beach is so named, not because it is four miles in length, but after a local family named Fourmile.

This is a great beach for family enjoyment with grassy picnic areas and public facilities provided.
